Haringey Remembrance Sunday: Hornsey 10am, Sun 8 Nov

Remembrance Sunday 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November. It is always the second Sunday in November, and 8 November is the second Sunday this year. Armistice Day itself, 11 November, is a Wednesday.

Haringey Council has not yet published its 2026 list of services. It went up on 5 November last year and on 7 November the year before, so expect it in the first week of November. What follows is the list the council published in 2023, 2024 and 2025, which did not change in any of those three years.

The services, and the times they have run at

Those five, at those times, are what Haringey published for 2024 and 2025, and the council’s own 2023 listing was identical.

The two-minute silence is observed at 11am, so it falls between the morning memorial services and the afternoon ones rather than during either.

The Tottenham service is preceded by a 9.30am service at Holy Trinity Church, Philip Lane. There has also been a separate service on the Monday at the war memorial in the Garden of Remembrance at Tottenham Cemetery, White Hart Lane N17, at 10.45am, on 11 November 2024 and again on 10 November 2025. In 2026 the Monday is 9 November and Armistice Day is the Wednesday, so which day that one lands on is not something the council has said yet.

Where to go from Crouch End

Hornsey War Memorial is the one. There is no separate Crouch End service, and the Haringey list has never carried one. The memorial stands in Park Road, about fifteen minutes on foot from Crouch End Broadway, and it is easy to miss: it is not an obelisk but a small red-brick chapel with Portland stone dressings, set in front of the health centre at number 151.

It was designed by George Lethbridge, dedicated in 1921, and commemorates the men of the old Hornsey borough who died in the First World War. Their names are on plaques inside. It is Grade II listed, and it was restored between 2007 and 2009 when the hospital behind it was demolished and rebuilt (Wikipedia).

In 2023 the council’s listing added a detail it has since dropped: the 10am wreath-laying was followed by a 10.30am service at St Mary with St George Church, on the corner of Cranley Gardens and Park Road. Neither the 2024 nor the 2025 listing repeated it. Worth ringing the church if that is the part you want.

Muswell Hill and Highgate

The Royal British Legion’s Muswell Hill and Highgate branch runs its own parade and service at the Muswell Hill Remembrance Garden, processing to the Legion’s north London headquarters in Muswell Hill Road. The branch has held it a week ahead of Remembrance Sunday, because serving personnel in the branch march at the Cenotaph in Whitehall on the day itself. The Enfield Independent reported the 2024 event, which drew more than 100 people, a standard bearer, cadets, Brass Band London, veterans, London Fire Brigade and a Metropolitan Police escort, with blessings from Jewish, Christian and Muslim clergy. No 2026 date has been published. On last year’s pattern it would fall on Sunday 1 November.

Nothing in Haringey’s list is in Highgate. N6 is split between Haringey and Camden, and the nearest borough service to it is Hornsey.

The 3pm service at St Saviours Court on Alexandra Park Road is the closest one to Muswell Hill, and see the next section before you plan around it.

The clash nobody has flagged: the fireworks are the same day

Alexandra Palace’s Fireworks and Drone Festival runs on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2026. The Sunday night is Remembrance Sunday. Gates open at 4pm and the display starts at 6pm, times we confirmed on our Ally Pally fireworks page.

The morning services are well clear of it. The 3pm service at St Saviours Court is not. Alexandra Park Road runs along the north edge of the park, and 3pm is roughly when the crowd starts arriving for a 4pm gate.

In 2025 the council made a temporary traffic order for the fireworks weekend with road closures and parking suspensions around the park, published in the last week of October. Nothing equivalent has been published for 2026 yet. If you are driving to the afternoon service, check the Crouch End roadworks and travel page that week, and read parking in Crouch End for the controlled parking zone hours, which run on Sundays in Muswell Hill.

The Poppy Appeal

The Mayor of Haringey launches the borough’s Poppy Appeal each October, on 23 October last year. Poppies and donation boxes are put out in Haringey’s libraries and on the reception desks at Alexandra House and George Meehan House. The appeal runs until Remembrance Day.
