Crouch End A is controlled 10am to noon, Crouch End B 2pm to 4pm, at £4.10 an hour. Crouch Hall Road car park now charges around the clock, seven days.

Crouch End is one of the cheapest places in Haringey to leave a car and one of the easiest to get a ticket in. Both facts come from the same thing: the controlled parking zone is only live for two hours a day, and the two halves of it run at different times.

All figures below are Haringey Council’s own, checked on 24 August 2026.

The CPZ is only on for two hours

Crouch End is split into two zones, and they do not share hours.

Outside those hours, and all day on bank holidays, parking in both zones is free. So a Crouch End A bay is free at 9.45am and chargeable at 10.01am, and a Crouch End B bay is the reverse. The council lists both on its full CPZ hours page, and you can search your road to see which zone it falls in.

The two traps worth knowing

Muswell Hill charges on a Sunday. Almost every Haringey zone runs Monday to Friday or Monday to Saturday. The Muswell Hill CPZ is one of the few that runs Monday to Sunday, so an 11.30am Sunday stop on the Broadway needs paying for while the identical stop in Crouch End does not.

Priory Gardens is not on Highgate Station hours. The Highgate Station CPZ is controlled Monday to Friday, 10am to 12 noon, with one exception written into the council’s own list: Priory Gardens is Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6.30pm. That is ten and a half extra hours a day, plus Saturdays, on one street.

Green Lanes zone A has a third quirk. The zone is controlled 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday, but pay and display parking is only available from 10am to 4pm. Outside that window, in zone hours, a permit is the only way to be legal.

The car parks

Haringey runs nine car parks and pays for all of them through RingGo or contactless pay and display machines. Two are relevant here.

  • Crouch Hall Road, N8. RingGo location 34523.
  • Summerland Gardens, N10, in Muswell Hill. RingGo location 34530.

The rest are in Tottenham, Wood Green and Seven Sisters: Brunswick Road N15, Bury Road multi-storey N22, Garman Road N17, Lawrence Road N15, Somerset Road N17, Stoneleigh Road A, B and C N17, and Westerfield Road N15.

What they now cost, and what changed

Cabinet approved a new tariff for every Haringey car park on 11 March 2026, to take effect from 1 August 2026 after statutory consultation. For both Crouch Hall Road and Summerland Gardens the approved car park appendix sets:

Two of those lines change how you use the car park rather than what you pay.

The four-hour band has gone, so anything over three hours is now the £10 all-day rate. And the car parks went from Monday to Saturday daytime charging to charging around the clock, seven days a week. A Sunday afternoon at Crouch Hall Road used to be free. Under the approved tariff it is not. Bank holidays, going the other way, are now free.

Diesel: the council’s own pages disagree

Haringey adds a surcharge to every car park charge if your car runs on diesel. The March 2026 report proposed raising it from 25% to 30% from 1 August, to match the on-street surcharge, and the Cabinet Member approved it.

The council’s live car parks page still says “a 25% surcharge for diesel vehicles applies in all Haringey car parks”. Check the machine or the RingGo screen before you assume which one you are paying. At the £10 all-day rate the difference is 50p.

Resident permits

Haringey prices resident permits on carbon dioxide emissions, and the 2026/27 rates rose 3.8% on 1 April 2026. These are the 12-month prices for a car under 4 metres long, from the council’s cost of resident parking permits page and the approved permits appendix.

Cars registered before 1 March 2001 are priced on engine size instead: £114.20 up to 1549cc, £273.00 from 1550cc to 3000cc, and £446.30 above that. Six-month permits are roughly half.

Three surcharges sit on top:

  • Diesel: £110 on a 12-month permit, £55 on a six-month one.
  • Vehicle length: 5% for a car between 4m and 4.499m, 10% at 4.5m and over.
  • Extra permits at the same address: £67.45 for the second, £134.95 for the third, £202.40 for the fourth, £269.90 for the fifth and beyond.

The surcharges stack. A diesel over 4.5 metres long in the top emissions band is priced in the council’s appendix at £646.60 for the year, against £46.70 for a small electric car. That spread is deliberate.

Visitor permits

Virtual, bought by the resident, scanned off the number plate. From the council’s cost of visitor parking permits page:

  • Daily permit: £5.80. Hourly: £1.50.
  • Concessionary daily: £2.90. Concessionary hourly: £0.70.

The concession is for residents who are 65 or older, registered disabled, or Blue Badge holders. Visitor permits are free if you live on an estate.

Two limits catch people out. You can only run two daily visitor permits at once, and the permit is not valid in a pay-by-phone-only bay. It works in resident permit bays and in shared-use bays, but not in the pay-by-phone ones.

There are no refunds or exchanges, though you can cancel a permit before it starts.

Blue Badge and disabled parking

Haringey is more generous than most London boroughs here, and it sets the terms out in the parking charges report:

  • Blue Badge holders park free and for an unlimited period in resident permit bays, shared-use bays and pay-by-phone bays, as well as in disabled bays.
  • The resident Blue Badge holder permit is free, is issued online with nothing to display, and lasts as long as your Blue Badge. It is valid in Haringey only.
  • A free Care at Home permit is available to people receiving care in their own home.

You can also apply for a dedicated disabled bay outside your home. An enquiry officer may visit before it is granted.

Parking at the stations

Crouch End has no station of its own. Neither Hornsey nor Harringay station has a car park, and neither does Highgate tube.

What that leaves is the street, and around Highgate station the street is controlled. The Highgate Station and Highgate Station Outer zones run Monday to Friday, 10am to 12 noon, which is the middle of the commuting day rather than the start of it. Priory Gardens, as above, is the exception at Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6.30pm.

For a full day, the nearest council car park to the Crouch End end of the line is Crouch Hall Road, at £10.
