The Crouch End tree was lit at 6pm on Saturday 6 December 2025, with a 40-stall market inside Hornsey Town Hall. No 2026 date is out yet. Here is who sets it.

Nobody has announced a Crouch End Christmas lights switch-on for 2026. We checked the organiser, the council and the neighbouring town centres on 3 September 2026 and found no 2026 date anywhere. That is normal for early September, and this page explains exactly who announces it, and when they did it last year.

What happened in 2025

The switch-on is run by Crouch End Festival, not by Haringey Council, and it is attached to a full day inside Hornsey Town Hall rather than a ceremony on the pavement.

The 2025 event ran on Saturday 6 December, 12pm to 10.30pm, at Hornsey Town Hall, The Broadway, N8 9JJ. The tree lights went on at 6pm, with a choir and a light show projected onto the town hall by Bubble Vision. Through the day there was a Christmas craft market in the main hall with over 40 stalls, Mr and Mrs Santa Claus, an Ice Queen grotto, free face painting, the Crouch End Open Studios art show, live jazz, soul and blues from Crossover Jazz, comedy in the Council Chamber, and a bar with mulled wine. Some parts were ticketed (Crouch End Festival’s own listing, posted 7 November 2025).

That posting date is the useful number. The 2025 event was announced four weeks out. If 2026 follows it, expect a date in early November.

Where a 2026 date will appear first

  • crouchendfestival.org. The festival’s site is currently given over to the summer festival, which ran 12 to 18 June 2026. There is no Christmas page on it at all, and its own sitemap has none.
  • Harringay Online’s events board, where the festival posted last year’s listing itself.
  • Not the council. See below.

Haringey pulls its festive listings out of season

Haringey Council did publish a round-up of switch-ons and markets last year, at a “Festive Haringey 2025” address. That page now returns a 403 with the message that it “has been archived or has not been made public”. The council’s “Christmas 2025” tag page is still live but lists nothing under it.

So the council’s festive information is seasonal by design. Do not read its absence in September as a sign that nothing is happening, and do not expect it to carry the Crouch End date when it returns, because the Crouch End event is not the council’s.

Wood Green has its own switch-ons, and its own stale pages

Wood Green is a separate operation run by Wood Green BID, and in 2024 it ran two switch-ons a week apart:

  • Saturday 16 November 2024, the official Wood Green Christmas tree, with the Mayor of Haringey and the leader of the council (Wood Green BID).
  • Saturday 23 November 2024, the Turnpike Lane tree, with singers and dancers “in the pouring rain” (Wood Green BID).

Two warnings about that source. Its most recent Christmas news post is from December 2024, so there is nothing published for 2025 or 2026. And its two standing Christmas section pages are seven years out of date while still reading as current: the “Christmas in Wood Green” page is headed “Christmas in Wood Green 2019” and announces event days “starting on Saturday 16th November”, and the “Wood Green Christmas Lights” page says the lights “will go live from the end of November through to January 2020”. Both are live today. Neither tells you anything about this year.

Muswell Hill

We found no organiser page for a Muswell Hill switch-on, in either direction. The lights go up on the Broadway every year, but no trader association, BID or council page publishes a date for them, so there is nothing here we are willing to print as fact. If you organise it, tell us and we will carry the date.

If you are going, the practical bits

Hornsey Town Hall is at the top of The Broadway, a two-minute walk from the Clock Tower. There is no car park attached to it, and the surrounding streets are inside a controlled parking zone, so check the hours on our parking in Crouch End page before you drive. The W7 and 41 stop on the Broadway itself.
