Haringey's £100,000 Community Carbon Fund closes at 11.59pm on 29 November. Groups can bid for up to £50,000, and residents up to £1,000 with no constitution.
Community groups in Haringey have until 11.59pm on Sunday 29 November to bid for a share of £100,000 in council climate grants. The sixth round of the Haringey Community Carbon Fund opened on 29 September, according to the council’s fund page.
The fund pays for community-led projects that cut carbon emissions and benefit Haringey residents. This round puts more weight on projects with a big carbon saving, and it now also covers climate resilience.
How much you can ask for
| Grant | Up to | Who can apply |
|---|---|---|
| Micro | £1,000 | Individuals or groups; no constitution needed |
| Medium | £15,000 | Constituted groups |
| Large | £50,000 | Constituted groups |
Apart from micro grants, applicants must have written rules, work for the public benefit and be based or mostly active in Haringey. The council scores bids on five things:
- carbon reduction
- community engagement
- how the project will be delivered
- the budget
- climate resilience
How to apply
- Download the right form from the fund page: one for micro grants, one for medium and large grants.
- Email it, with the attachments the form asks for, to climate@haringey.gov.uk.
- If the project might need planning permission, the council recommends getting pre-application advice from its planning service first, and sending the reference number with your bid.
The council has also published a sample medium grant bid for a solar panel project. It says the sample is a guide, not a model answer.
One-to-one help runs from Monday 9 to Friday 13 November. These are 25-minute online question and answer sessions on Microsoft Teams, between 10am and 5.30pm. They are first come, first served, can be booked up to a day ahead, and close when full. Two group information sessions, on 29 September and 21 October, have already been held.
What happens after 29 November
- 21 January 2027: shortlisted medium and large bidders present to a panel.
- March 2027: the council announces which bids won.
- From April 2027: the first grants are paid.

The council’s list of funded projects for the first five years includes several in the west of the borough:
| Project | Year | Grant |
|---|---|---|
| Hornsey Vale Community Association: study of low carbon heating options | 3 | £14,950 |
| Hornsey Vale Community Association: solar panels and low carbon heating | 5 | £28,828 |

| Alexandra Palace: secondary glazing in the listed Old Station | 4 | £37,870 |
| Power Up North London: groundwork for solar panels at Highgate Wood School | 4 | £15,000 |
Hornsey Vale’s second grant was for a system the council’s list says should save 7.1 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year. It followed the heating study paid for by the first.
Smaller grants have gone to schools, residents’ groups and repair projects. The Willow Primary School got two micro grants in year 3, for a food waste project and a uniform swap shop. The Gardens Residents Association in Harringay got £1,000 in both year 4 and year 5.
